A bold arched banner across the upper portion carries the large white numerals '100 000 Mark' in Roman type. Below the arch, the arms of the City of Herne — a mural crown above a shield bearing a tree on a globe — serve as the central vignette. Two blocks of Fraktur text beneath state the city's guarantee of redemption and the note's validity conditions, while the printer's imprint 'FR. WILH.
