Opmerkingen

Lebanon's first polymer banknote, issued as the country's financial system was collapsing in real time. The lira had already begun its catastrophic slide by late 2019, triggered by the sovereign debt crisis and cascading bank failures, making the 100,000 livre denomination — worth roughly $66 at the official rate when issued — nearly meaningless at street exchange within months of release. Commissioning from PWPW in Warsaw was a practical pivot away from Lebanon's usual suppliers, driven partly by cost and partly by the need for a more durable substrate as ATM servicing became irregular.

The transparent window security feature is relatively basic by polymer standards, reflecting a constrained procurement budget.
