The 100,000 Livres is the highest denomination ever issued by Banque du Liban and was introduced partly in response to the chronic inflation that followed Lebanon's fifteen-year civil war — by the time it appeared, the Lebanese pound had lost roughly 98% of its pre-war value against the dollar.
