| 背面描述 | The central field features a raised effigy of a Black Gibbon (Nomascus concolor) seated among foliage, set against a holographic iridescent background that radiates prismatic color across the field. To the left of the central device, Chinese characters in a rectangular cartouche read '黑长臂猿' (Black Gibbon). The upper circular legend reads 'WORLD ENDANGERED WILD LIFE' in Latin script, while the lower legend reads 'BLACK GIBBON • 100,000 Kip'. Along the right inner border, the inscription '1/2 oz 999.9 FINE GOLD' appears vertically, specifying the coin's gold content and weight. |

The northern white-cheeked gibbon (Nomascus leucogenys) depicted on this issue was already under severe pressure by 2004, with Laos holding one of the last viable wild populations after habitat destruction and hunting had collapsed numbers across Vietnam and southern China. The Bank of the Lao P.D.R. produced a series of wildlife-themed gold issues during this period partly in coordination with international conservation bodies seeking to leverage numismatic interest in funding habitat protection programs.
Struck at a half-troy-ounce weight, the coin targets the collector bullion market rather than any domestic circulation function.
