| Obverse description | The national emblem of the Lao People's Democratic Republic occupies the central field, depicting the That Luang stupa in Vientiane flanked by a stylized road and paddy fields, all framed by sheaves of rice and a cogwheel at the base, with a ribbon bearing the country name in Lao script. The circular legend reads 'THE LAO PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC' in Latin script along the upper periphery, while the Lao script legend arcs along the lower portion of the emblem.
