Banco de Cabinda has no recognized legal standing — Cabinda is an Angolan exclave, not a sovereign state, and issues attributed to it are privately produced fantasy pieces with no monetary authority behind them. The hundred-million-real denomination places it firmly in the tradition of hyperinflation novelty coinage, a format exploiting the spectacle of large numbers rather than documenting any actual monetary event.
Aluminium construction keeps production costs negligible, which is consistent with the economics of this kind of item.
