This trial strike belongs to a design program commissioned to mark the 25th anniversary of Poland's postwar resettlement — specifically the forced population transfers that followed the Yalta and Potsdam agreements, which displaced millions of Poles from the Kresy territories in the east while simultaneously absorbing former German lands in the west. The slogan "Byliśmy — Jesteśmy — Będziemy" was a direct piece of state propaganda asserting permanent Polish claim to the Recovered Territories, a politically sensitive assertion given ongoing West German refusal to formally recognize the Oder-Neisse border until 1970.
The dual Pr references suggest at least two distinct trial variants were produced, differing in die treatment or finish.
