The eagle bears no crown, consistent with the People's Republic period heraldry. | Opis rewersu | A seated frontal effigy of King Kazimierz III Wielki (Casimir the Great) occupies the central field, depicted enthroned in royal robes and wearing a closed crown, holding a scepter in his right hand and an orb or book in his left, in a dignified, stylized sculptural manner. The inscription KAZIMIERZ WIELKI appears in the field to the left and right of the figure. The circular legend SZEŚĆSETLECIE UNIWERSYTETU JAGIELOŃSKIEGO runs along the upper arc, commemorating the 600th anniversary of the Jagiellonian University. The dates :1364:1964: are inscribed along the lower arc, flanking the base of the throne. The overall design is the work of engraver Józef Gosławski, executed in a refined medallic style. |
