Beschrijving keerzijde Central design features the Warsaw Mermaid (Syrenka), the heraldic symbol of Warsaw, depicted as a half-woman, half-fish figure brandishing an upraised sword in her right hand and holding a round shield in her left, rising from stylised waves. To the lower left, a medieval tower and houses evoke the Old Town of Warsaw; to the lower right, a sailing vessel references the city's historical river trade. The large denomination numeral '10' with the abbreviation 'ZŁ' is prominently displayed in the lower field. The legend 'SIEDEMSET · LAT · WARSZAWY' arcs around the upper periphery, with 'PRÓBA' inscribed vertically at the right, denoting the trial strike status.

Aanvullende informatie

Warsaw's 700th anniversary fell in 1965, a year the Polish communist government invested heavily in commemorative programming to legitimize its stewardship of a city it had rebuilt almost entirely from rubble after the war. Trial strikes like this nickel piece were produced by Mennica Polska as presentation or approval strikings ahead of the issued aluminum-bronze circulation version — they were never intended for public hands.

The Fischer and ParM references both catalog this as a pattern variant, reflecting the multiple alloy trials conducted before the final composition was settled.
