10 Yuan Art of Chinese Calligraphy - Lasting Forever

Issued as part of the People's Bank of China's ongoing calligraphy commemorative series, this 2018 release focuses on the cursive script tradition — a form whose aesthetic conventions were largely codified during the Tang dynasty by masters such as Zhang Xu and Huaisu. The series was designed partly in response to institutional concern that classical script forms were losing ground among younger generations, a debate that had been active in Chinese cultural policy circles since at least the 2000s.
