| Obverse description | The central field displays the State Emblem of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, comprising a hydroelectric power station beneath a radiant five-pointed star, framed by sheaves of rice bound with a ribbon in the national colours. The circular legend in Hangul script reads 조선민주주의인민공화국 (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) around the upper periphery. The denomination 50원 appears prominently in the lower field, flanked by the fineness mark 999 to the left and the weight 31g to the right. The date inscription 주체106(2017)년, denoting Juche year 106 corresponding to 2017, is inscribed along the lower border. The coin is struck in proof finish with a deeply mirrored field contrasting against frosted devices. |
