| 正面描述 | Draped bust of Frederick Augustus III facing right, with elaborate curled wig tied at the nape, rendered in fine relief within a beaded border. The portrait is classical in style, showing the Elector in a plain truncation without armor or insignia. The Latin legend encircles the effigy reading FRID:AUGUST:D:G:DUX SAX:ELECTOR, identifying the ruler by name and electoral title. |

Frederick Augustus III ruled Saxony from 1763 until 1806, navigating the electorate through a period of cautious fiscal reconstruction after the Seven Years' War had effectively bankrupted the state. These gold 10-thaler pieces were struck at the Dresden mint across more than a decade, functioning less as everyday currency than as prestige instruments — gifts, diplomatic payments, and court transactions among the Saxon nobility.
Fr#2875 is among the scarcer Friedberg gold listings for late 18th-century Saxony, with surviving populations largely traceable to old European collections rather than circulation finds.
