Obverse description Three draped female busts in left-facing profile, arranged in overlapping succession across the central field, representing the three regions of Vietnam. The figures wear traditional Vietnamese dress and styled hair, the foremost bust adorned with a beaded necklace. The legend QUOC-GIA VIET-NAM arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by a sawtooth inner border. The date 1953 appears in the lower exergual area, accompanied by the engraver's privy marks on either side.
