Ulak tartysh is the Central Asian equestrian sport in which riders compete to carry a headless goat carcass to a goal — essentially polo played with a carcass instead of a ball. It remains a living tradition across Kyrgyzstan and was recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage element. The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan has issued a series of silver collector coins documenting nomadic sports and customs, of which this is one entry.
Mintage on these Kyrgyz cultural series coins is typically extremely low — often under 2,000 pieces — making secondary market appearances infrequent.
