| Obverse description | Printed in brown on a pale pink guilloche underprint, the obverse carries the bilingual bank title 'SOUTH AFRICAN RESERVE BANK / ZUIDAFRIKAANSE RESERVEBANK' at the top and bottom respectively, with the denomination 'TEN-TIEN SHILLINGS' in large letterpress text at centre. Bilingual promise-to-pay clauses in English and Dutch appear above the denomination, with the issuing place 'Pretoria' and date at lower centre flanked by a facsimile Governor's signature and the title 'Governor / President'. The four corners bear numeral '10' vignettes within ornamental frames, and the serial number appears twice at left and upper right. |
