| Obverse description | Central field displays the national coat of arms of the Somali Democratic Republic, comprising a shield bearing a five-pointed star supported on either side by two leopards rampant, with two crossed palm fronds below. The legend JAMHUURIYADDA DIMOQRAADIGA SOOMAALIYA arcs along the upper periphery in Latin characters, accompanied by the Arabic equivalent الجمهورية الصومالية الديمقراطية along the inner border. The commemorative dates 1969–1979 and their Arabic-numeral equivalents ١٩٦٩–١٩٧٩ appear in the lower central field, flanked by the Arabic inscription الذكرى العاشرة للثورة and the Somali legend SANNAD GUURADII 10AAD EE KACAANKA along the lower periphery, marking the tenth anniversary of the revolution. |
