A harbour and mountain vignette appears at lower centre, with serial number and denomination numerals in Tamil and Hindi script at lower left.

The denomination TEN RUPEES appears in English below the arms, with additional inscriptions in Tamil and Hindi script along the lower margin. The issuer's title THE GOVERNMENT OF MAURITIUS runs across the top in bold letterpress.
