Obverse description Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in right profile occupies the right portion of the note, rendered in intaglio against a fine guilloche underprint in rose-red tones. The centre carries the denomination TEN RUPEES in bold letterpress, with a legal tender clause in script above, set over a circular vignette bearing multilingual text and the Office of the Commissioners of Currency imprint at Port Louis. A harbour and mountain vignette appears at lower centre, with serial number and denomination numerals in Tamil and Hindi script at lower left.

Reverse description The Mauritius coat of arms is centrally placed, supported by a dodo to the left and a stag to the right, with the motto scroll STELLA CLAVISQUE MARIS INDICI below, all executed in intaglio on a fine guilloche background in rose-red. The denomination TEN RUPEES appears in English below the arms, with additional inscriptions in Tamil and Hindi script along the lower margin. The issuer's title THE GOVERNMENT OF MAURITIUS runs across the top in bold letterpress.
