| Reverse description | The central vignette presents an intaglio portrait of a young Seychellois woman with long hair amid lush tropical plants, set within a fine-line guilloche border with rosette ornaments. The issuer's name is inscribed across the top, with a decorative rosette at the upper right corner, and a colourful geometric band of stylised triangular motifs runs across the lower portion of the note. The denomination appears in large numerals and words at the bottom. |

The 1983 series marked the Central Bank of Seychelles' early years of independent monetary management — the institution had only been established in 1978, three years after independence from Britain. American Bank Note Company of New York handled production, a common choice for newly sovereign island nations during this period who lacked bilateral printing arrangements with European security printers.
Pick 28 is the lower-denomination workhorse of the series and saw heavy circulation. Worn examples are the rule, not the exception.
