The Maldives Monetary Authority was established in 1981, replacing the Maldives Monetary Board and giving the island nation its first proper central bank with formal note-issuing authority. Thomas De La Rue printed this series throughout its nearly decade-long run — a fairly long lifespan for a low-denomination note in a tourist-dependent economy where dollar substitution and wear rates tend to be high.
Pick 19 carries only a watermark as documented security, modest even by late-1990s standards for De La Rue output.
