| Obverse description | Central field bears the denomination numeral '١٠' in Arabic and '10 RIYALS' in Latin script, enclosed within a beaded circle. The legend 'حُكُومَةُ رَأسِ الخَيمَة' (Government of Ras al-Khaimah) arcs above the circle in Arabic, flanked by six-pointed stars, while the English equivalent 'GOVERNMENT OF RAS AL KHAIMA' curves along the lower periphery. Ras al-Khaimah joined the federation that became the UAE in 1972, but in the preceding years its ruler, Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed al-Qasimi, aggressively pursued coin and stamp issues aimed squarely at the collector market — a common revenue strategy among the smaller Trucial States as British withdrawal from the Gulf loomed. Most of these issues saw negligible circulation. The Rome mintmark places production at the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato, which struck numerous issues for Gulf states during this period.
