Obverse description The obverse displays the ornate crowned Portuguese royal arms at center, featuring the quartered escutcheon with the traditional quinas (five blue shields with silver bezants) and the red border with golden castles, all set within an elaborate baroque cartouche. The crowned shield is flanked by decorative foliate and scrollwork elements. A circular legend in Latin reads MARIA.I.ET PETRUS III. DEI.GRATIA, running along the coin's periphery, interrupted at the base by additional ornamental devices. The milled border is clearly defined, framing the entire design.

Reverse description The reverse presents a large Roman numeral X, representing the denomination of 10 Réis, at the center of the field, flanked on either side by elaborate laurel and olive branches curving outward toward the rim. The date is divided to the left and right of the central numeral, with two digits appearing on each side. The surrounding circular legend PORTUGALIAÆ.ET.ALGARBIORUM.REGINA runs along the entire periphery in Latin, denoting the royal title of Queen of Portugal and the Algarves. The design is rendered in the baroque style typical of late 18th-century Portuguese coinage, with the reeded border providing a crisp frame.
