| Obverse description | The obverse displays the ornate crowned Portuguese royal arms at center, featuring the quartered escutcheon with the traditional quinas (five blue shields with silver bezants) and the red border with golden castles, all set within an elaborate baroque cartouche. The crowned shield is flanked by decorative foliate and scrollwork elements. A circular legend in Latin reads MARIA.I.ET PETRUS III. DEI.GRATIA, running along the coin's periphery, interrupted at the base by additional ornamental devices. The milled border is clearly defined, framing the entire design. |
