| Descrizione del dritto | Central field features the Portuguese royal arms — a crowned shield bearing the quinas (five escutcheons arranged in a cross) — encircled by a wreath of laurel and oak branches. A circular Latin legend runs along the outer periphery, reading PORTUGALIE ET ALGARBIORUM REX, separated by a floral ornament at the top. The design reflects the Baroque engraving style characteristic of Portuguese colonial coinage of the early 18th century. The field shows the typical wear and roughness associated with a host coin subsequently countermarked for revaluation. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | The reverse of the host coin, a V Réis struck under João V (1749), displays a large central cartouche or armorial composition, heavily worn and partially obscured by the applied countermark. Flanking allegorical or decorative elements are visible at the sides of the central device. The outer legend, partially legible, reads IOANNES V DEI GRACIA, interrupted by wear and the effects of the countermarking process. Above the central design, a crown is discernible, consistent with the royal iconography of Joannine-era Portuguese copper coinage. The overall surface exhibits significant die wear and patination reflective of extended circulation prior to countermarking. |
