Obverse description A chinze — the mythical Burmese guardian creature combining lion and dragon attributes — is depicted in right-facing profile, rampant, occupying the full field of the square flan. The creature is rendered in high relief with finely detailed musculature, decorative scrollwork on the haunches, and an elaborately beaded collar or mane encircling the neck. The open-mouthed head, facing right, displays prominent fangs and an ornate crown-like crest. The curling tail and powerful clawed forepaws are rendered with characteristic Burmese artistic style. No legends or inscriptions appear on this face.

Reverse description The denomination and date in Burmese script are inscribed in two lines at the centre of the field, reading '၁၀ပြား' (10 pyas) above the date. The central inscriptions are framed on all four sides by symmetrical, densely scrolling floral and foliate vine ornaments that fill the corners and edges of the square flan, lending the design an elegant decorative character consistent with traditional Burmese artistic motifs.
