National Bank Limited was a New Zealand-incorporated institution, and this wartime issue was printed by Perkins Bacon in London — the same firm responsible for much of the British Empire's stamp and banknote production during the period. The First World War severely disrupted shipping, which created genuine logistical headaches for colonial banks dependent on London printers for their currency supply.
The 1915–1918 date range reflects issue period rather than a single print run; surviving examples often show manuscript date completions consistent with Perkins Bacon's standard practice of leaving fields partially blank for local completion at time of signing.
