Opmerkingen

Syria's Central Bank was established in 1956 following the dissolution of the Banque de Syrie et du Liban, which had operated under French concession since the Mandate period. This series bridges an unusually turbulent stretch — 1958 marked the formation of the United Arab Republic with Egypt, which technically suspended Syrian monetary independence until the union collapsed in 1961. Notes from the earliest dates in this range were issued under a government that no longer formally existed within months of printing.

The series ran long enough to span three distinct constitutional arrangements, which is why date verification matters here more than it might for a shorter-lived issue.
