Additional information

Dyckerhoff & Widmann was one of Imperial Germany's foremost reinforced concrete construction firms, responsible for major infrastructure projects across Central Europe. Like many large industrial employers during World War I, the company issued its own notgeld coinage when small-denomination Reichsmünzen vanished from circulation — hoarded by a public that understood metal had intrinsic value that paper did not. Zinc was the material of necessity; copper and nickel had gone to the war effort.

The Hasselmann catalog remains the primary reference for German industrial notgeld of this type.
