Crossen an der Oder (now Krosno Odrzańskie, Poland) hosted one of the prisoner-of-war camps administered under the III. Army Corps inspection system, the issuing authority responsible for internal camp currency across several facilities in the region. These Lagergeld notes were a deliberate administrative tool — they prevented prisoners from accumulating Reichsmarks that could fund escape attempts or black-market dealings with civilian workers.
Ambrosius & Co. in Kirchhain, Niederlausitz, printed for multiple camp authorities in the area, which occasionally creates attribution headaches when notes surface without clear provenance. The Waldhausen signature identifies the inspecting officer, though the adjutant countersignature on this denomination remains unattributed.
