| Aanvullende informatie |
Preetzer Spar- und Leihkasse was a small savings and loan institution in Preetz, a market town in Holstein, and like hundreds of similar local bodies across Germany it began issuing zinc notgeld in 1917 when the imperial government's wartime metal requisitions stripped copper and nickel from circulation entirely. These emergency pieces were legal for local transactions only, redeemable at the issuing institution — which meant their survival depended entirely on whether that institution outlasted the war.
