| Obverse description | An outer beaded rim frames the design, with a continuous circular inner beaded border enclosing the central motif. The Mettmann municipal coat of arms, depicting a fortified townscape with towers and a crown above, occupies the central field. A circular legend in raised Latin lettering reads around the upper periphery between the two beaded borders, flanked by two small six-pointed stars at the base. The overall composition is plain and utilitarian, consistent with the emergency coinage (Notgeld) aesthetic of the early Weimar Republic period. |

| Reverse description | An outer beaded rim and an inner beaded border frame the reverse field. The large numeral '10' dominates the central field in bold raised figures, denoting the token's face value in Pfennig. A curved legend along the upper periphery reads the validity expiry date, while the word 'KLEINGELDERSATZ' (small change substitute) arcs along the lower border between the beaded circles. Two small six-pointed stars separate the legends at either side. |
