Within the central circle, the municipal shield of Frankenthal is depicted: a pointed heraldic shield bearing a stylized hourglass or pyramid charge in the lower half with a crescent above, rendered in low relief on the zinc flan. The Fraktur blackletter legend encircling the shield reads 'Gott ist unser Eckstein' (God is our cornerstone), with the date '1917' appearing in the lower portion of the legend band.
