| 背面描述 | A beaded inner rim encircles the large raised numeral '10' prominently displayed at center field, denoting the denomination. Above, the legend 'KRIEGSGELD 1917' arcs along the upper periphery, while 'PFENNIG' is inscribed in a straight line along the lower portion of the field. Small ornamental stops flank the inscriptions, consistent with the austere utilitarian style of First World War German emergency coinage. |

Ahlen's 1917 zinc notgeld issue belongs to the first wave of municipal emergency coinage that flooded Germany after the Imperial government requisitioned copper and nickel for war production, leaving local authorities scrambling to fill the small-denomination gap. Zinc was a compromise — cheap, available, but notoriously prone to corrosion, which explains why surviving examples in genuine uncirculated condition are harder to find than the original mintages might suggest.
