Obverse description A beaded inner rim frames the municipal coat of arms of Ahlen at center, depicting a stylized eagle displayed on a quartered shield surmounted by a crest. The city name is divided by the shield in raised Latin lettering, reading 'STADT' to the left and 'AHLEN' to the right, each segment separated by raised dots. The overall design is rendered in low relief typical of wartime notgeld zinc coinage.
