Beschrijving voorzijde	Central device consisting of a hammer and compass superimposed upon two crossed wheat stalks, symbolising the alliance of the working class, the peasantry, and the intelligentsia, derived from the emblem of the GDR Five-Year Plan. The design is rendered in low relief against a plain field. The date appears in the lower portion of the field beneath the central emblem.
