| 裏面の説明 | The reverse, also printed in green, bears the heading 'GUTSCHEIN / FÜR' at the top with denomination numerals '10' in the upper corners within cartouches. A large ornate cartouche at centre contains the inscription 'ZEHN PFENNIG' with a guilloche numeral '10' superimposed. Below the cartouche a validity clause in German text is repeated, and the serial number is printed in black at the foot of the note. Small vignettes of a railway scene and an industrial installation appear in the lower left and lower right corners respectively, with the printer's imprint 'OTTO HOFFMANN & SOHN, LEHRTE' at the very base. |

Lehrte in 1921 was a railway junction town — the Hanover–Berlin main line crossed there — and like hundreds of small German municipalities that year, the city issued its own Kleingeld-Ersatz as the postwar coin shortage made low-denomination transactions genuinely unworkable. The Reichsbank could not keep fractional coinage in circulation fast enough to match the inflation already eroding confidence in paper.
Otto Hoffmann & Sohn printing from within the town itself was typical of this notgeld wave: local printers took on municipal contracts they'd never have seen in stable times. The L30.1b designation within Grabowski's catalog implies at least one earlier or parallel variant — likely a color or paper difference on the same design run.
