At upper centre, bold letterpress reads 'Notgeld der Gemeinde LAUENSTEIN OBERFRANKEN', flanked at left by a framed vignette of Lauenstein Castle on its rocky outcrop and at right by a framed heraldic rampant lion. The lower portion carries the denomination numeral '10' in ornamental red cartouches at each corner, the serial number, the issuance date 'Juni 1921', the authority inscription 'Der Gemeinderat:' with a manuscript signature, and the validity clause 'Dieser Schein ist gültig bis 4 Wochen nach ortsübl. | Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse is printed in black and rust-red on a buff ground, enclosed by a thick dark outer border, with two flanking vertical panels containing stylised draped female figures in outline. The central text field carries a four-line German verse in bold letterpress: 'DAS GELD IST FORT, / DIE NOT IM HAUS, / AUCH UNSER ORT / GIBT NOTGELD AUS.', surmounted by a red scrollwork ornament. Below the verse, the denomination '10 Pfennig.' appears in large type with the numeral enclosed in a red circle. The printer's imprint 'Wiedemannsche-Druckerei A.-G.
