| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in black and rust-red on a buff ground, framed by a thick dark outer border. At upper centre, bold letterpress reads 'Notgeld der Gemeinde LAUENSTEIN OBERFRANKEN', flanked at left by a framed vignette of Lauenstein Castle on its rocky outcrop and at right by a framed heraldic rampant lion. The lower portion carries the denomination numeral '10' in ornamental red cartouches at each corner, the serial number, the issuance date 'Juni 1921', the authority inscription 'Der Gemeinderat:' with a manuscript signature, and the validity clause 'Dieser Schein ist gültig bis 4 Wochen nach ortsübl.
