Schliersee's 1921 Notgeld issue was printed by the Miesbacher Anzeiger, a regional newspaper press in nearby Miesbach — a common arrangement in Bavaria during the postwar small-change crisis, when municipal councils across Germany turned to whatever local printer could handle the job. The Marktgemeinderat, the governing council of a market township rather than a full city, had no printing infrastructure of its own.
Bavarian Notgeld from this period was generally short-lived; most issues were redeemed and destroyed within months of the stabilization of the Rentenmark in late 1923.
