| Obverse description | Notgeld issued by the university city of Jena, with a multicolour Art Nouveau border of stylised geometric and foliate ornaments in gold, blue-grey, and black framing the entire note. A central red cartouche in the upper half carries the Gothic-script inscription 'Notgeld Universitätsstadt Jena', flanked by decorative roundels with concentric circle motifs.
