Beschrijving voorzijde Letterpress-printed Kriegsgeld (war money) note in red, green, and black on white paper, framed by a decorative red border. The Straubing municipal coat of arms — a shield bearing a fleur-de-lis — occupies the centre, flanked by elaborate red and green foliate scrollwork and two black denomination panels inscribed '10' in white with 'Pfennig' below in Gothic script. The heading 'Straubinger Kriegsgeld' in ornate Gothic lettering appears above, with the issuing authority 'Magistrat der Stadt Straubing', the date '1. Oktober 1918', and two manuscript signatures with their titles below the arms.

Opmerkingen

Straubing's municipal administration issued this Notgeld note in 1918 as wartime metal shortages made small-denomination coinage essentially unavailable throughout Germany. Edmund Senft, a local Straubing printer, both designed and produced the note — a common arrangement for smaller towns where speed and proximity mattered more than prestige.

The two signatories represent the town's dual administrative structure: Maily as deputy mayor and Zitter in his capacity overseeing the municipal council.
