Obverse description Against a deeply recessed black field, a large polychrome enamel depiction of a Moorish Idol (Zanclus canescens) occupies the central zone, rendered in light blue, black, and yellow with silver-raised outlines in a stylized graphic manner. To the right of the fish, a coral formation is depicted in green and amber enamel, evoking a tropical reef environment. The date 2005 appears in small characters at the lower right of the central design. The legend PECES TROPICALES curves along the upper left periphery, while ZANCLUS CANESCENS arcs along the lower periphery, both inscribed in raised Latin lettering on the dark field.

Reverse description The reverse is entirely blank, presenting a uniformly smooth, unadorned field with no legend, device, or inscription of any kind. This featureless surface is characteristic of a reverse trial piece, struck solely to test the obverse die without a corresponding reverse design.
