| 正面描述 | The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the centre of the inner disc, rendered in high sculptural relief and depicting an eagle perched on a cactus devouring a serpent, with an ornate wreath of oak and laurel branches below. The legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper periphery of the inner ring in raised Latin letters. The bimetallic construction is evident with a distinct boundary between the central disc and the outer ring. |

Issued to mark the turn of the millennium, this bimetallic piece was part of a wave of commemorative circulation coinage produced across Latin America as governments sought to associate themselves with the symbolic weight of the year 2000. Mexico's mint had been producing bimetallic 10-peso coins since 1997, and the infrastructure was already in place — the millennium series required no new tooling or production changes, just a modified design run through an established process.
