Obverse description The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the centre of the inner disc, rendered in high sculptural relief and depicting an eagle perched on a cactus devouring a serpent, with an ornate wreath of oak and laurel branches below. The legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper periphery of the inner ring in raised Latin letters. The bimetallic construction is evident with a distinct boundary between the central disc and the outer ring.
