Obverse description The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky outcrop, devouring a serpent in its beak and talons. The design is rendered in high-relief proof finish against a mirror-polished field. A wreath of oak and laurel branches frames the lower portion of the emblem, tied at the base with a ribbon. The curved legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin capitals.
