| 背面描述 | The heraldic shield of the State of Chiapas is centrally placed, depicting two lions rampant flanking a castle, set above a canyon through which a river flows, and surmounted by a royal crown with decorative finials. The legend ESTADO DE CHIAPAS arcs along the upper periphery, while the mintmark Mo appears to the left and the date 2005 to the right of the shield, both at mid-field. The denomination $10 is inscribed in the lower field, with a decorative ring of small circular pellets bordering the inner field. |

Part of the long-running Mexican states series issued by the Casa de Moneda beginning in 2003, this Chiapas issue belongs to a 32-coin programme covering each federal entity — one of the more ambitious commemorative undertakings in modern Mexican minting. Chiapas was among the more politically charged choices given the Zapatista uprising that had begun in January 1994 and remained unresolved a decade later when this coin was struck.
The .999 fine silver specification places it among the purer strikes in the series, which used .999 throughout rather than the sterling standard common to earlier Mexican commemoratives.
