Produced under Japanese occupation when conventional supply lines were severed, the Negros guerrilla currency series was authorized by the IV Philippine Corps and printed locally using whatever materials were available. The Free Negros Military Currency Committee issued these notes to sustain a functioning economy in the unoccupied interior — Filipino civilians were expected to accept them at face value, and largely did, which was itself a remarkable act of organized resistance to Japanese military scrip.

Local printing on Negros meant inconsistent paper stock and variable ink quality across the run. Survivors show considerable variation in registration and impression depth, not from abuse in circulation but from the production conditions themselves.
