| 背面描述 | A full-colour photographic depiction of the ancient Avebury stone circle in Wiltshire, England, dominates the central field. Tall, weathered sarsen standing stones rise prominently in the foreground against a vivid green pastoral landscape, with trees visible in the background beneath a dramatic sky. Several sheep graze peacefully at the base of the stones, adding a traditional English rural character to the scene. The denomination 'TEN PENCE' is inscribed in raised letters along the upper periphery, and the name 'AVEBURY' curves along the lower margin in matching raised lettering. |

Avebury, not Stonehenge, is the largest megalithic stone circle in the world — a fact that surprises most people encountering it for the first time. The Isle of Man has built a broader definitive series around British prehistoric and natural heritage sites, a departure from the territorially local themes that dominated its coinage through much of the twentieth century. Avebury itself straddles a functioning English village; several of the sarsen stones were buried by medieval inhabitants who feared them as pagan.
