Banco da China became one of Macau's three note-issuing banks in 1995, relatively late in the territory's banking history, and its lunar new year commemorative issues have since occupied a distinct niche — legal tender by statute but produced in limited quantities and rarely encountered in circulation. The 2017 Year of the Rooster note is part of that commemorative run, printed by CBPMC in Beijing, the same facility responsible for the People's Republic's own currency production.
The "Printed: 30.04.1945" field in the catalog data is clearly erroneous — almost certainly a data entry artifact — and should not be taken as meaningful.
