| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse is printed in olive-green and black intaglio on cream paper, with an oval portrait vignette of Emperor Pedro II at the left, rendered in fine line engraving. The Brazilian Imperial coat of arms is displayed centrally at the top between elaborate guilloche scrollwork, flanked by denomination numerals '10' in the upper corners and at lower left. A classical female allegorical figure in draped robes stands to the right, with intricate lathe-work underprint throughout the note field. |

| Opmerkingen |
The Thesouro Nacional do Imperio do Brazil relied heavily on American Bank Note Company throughout the 1880s, a period when Brazil's imperial government was under mounting fiscal pressure from abolition costs and a restless military. This note was issued roughly four years before the proclamation of the Republic in 1889, which rendered the entire imperial treasury note series obsolete almost overnight — surviving examples were neither redeemed efficiently nor systematically destroyed, leaving circulation histories difficult to reconstruct.
ABNC's intaglio work on Brazilian imperial paper is generally among their cleaner commissions of the decade. The 10 Mil Reis denomination sat at the higher end of everyday commerce.
