The joint issuance across two distinct administrative districts is unusual; most Notgeld was issued by a single Gemeinde or Kreis acting alone. M. Dumont Schauberg, the Cologne-based printer, was one of the more prolific producers of Rhineland Notgeld and had deep roots in regional publishing long before the inflation period pressed them into currency work.
